Impacting Development: Considerations for Child Welfare Professionals About the Developmental Consequences of Abuse and Neglect

This multi-disciplinary training will help child welfare professionals understand the various ways in which child abuse and neglect impacts child development. In addition to identifying the initial emotional and physical effects of abuse and neglect on children (from infant to pre-adult), the training will discuss ways to remediate trauma in order to improve the child’s functioning in the future. Understanding the link between child abuse and neglect and development can help professionals tailor service plans, identify resources, construct court orders, and achieve permanency for youth, while addressing trauma related developmental issues.
