These standards were developed to address the wide variations in the quality and content of comprehensive sexuality education across states, districts, schools and individual teachers.
In January 2012, four leading national health and education organizations, along with Advocates for Youth, Answer and SIECUS, released the National Sexuality Education Standards: Core Content and Skills K-12.
The Michigan Organization on Adolescent Sexual Health, in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Education and Michigan Department of Community Health, is sponsoring a webinar to provide the background, rationale and process by which the Standards were created, along with strategies for adoption and implementation for health and education professionals working on the front lines of sexuality education in Michigan.
