Creating Circles of Safety

This FREE three-part web-based training teaches skills in proactively setting guidelines for privacy and touch and responding skillfully to ambiguous situations involving children or adults. You will gain words to use and confidence to act in situations you might encounter in your family, organization, or community.
Evening Series: Tuesdays October 2, 9, and December 4, 2012 at 7:30 pm Eastern Time
Daytime Series: Wednesdays October 3, 10, and December 5, 2012 at 2 pm Eastern Time
Week 1: Recognizing and Responding to Children’s Sexual Behaviors
- Focuses on sexual behaviors in children–how to determine whether sexual behaviors in children are age-appropriate and how to use context to determine when behaviors are inappropriate or harmful. We provide guidelines and practice for responding to behaviors outside of what you would expect to see in children of various ages, with a focus on pre-pubescent children.
Week 2: Recognizing and Responding to Adults’ Sexual Behaviors
- Teaches how to recognize behaviors and situations that increase risk of sexual abuse by adults, how to set boundariesi with those who interact with children, and how to speak up to keep children safe.
Week 3: Booster Session: Acting to Keep Children Safe from Sexual Abuse
- Using case studies and your experiences in the past two months, this session focuses on refining our skills for use in a variety of contexts.
