This multidisciplinary training is designed specifically for healthcare providers who provide medical evaluations for suspected victims of child abuse and prosecutors or child protection attorneys handling criminal or civil cases of child abuse. Evidence-based guidelines for the medical evaluation of child abuse patients will be provided along with court prep and mock court testimony experience. This training is appropriate for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, and registered nurses with specific training in child abuse (i.e. SANE). This training is not intended for nurses or other healthcare providers whose role is to assist the examiner. For prosecuting attorneys and child protection attorneys the various aspects of a trial and potential medical aspects at a trial will be examined and explained. The course will conclude with a mock trial workshop involving teams of participants.

Preference will be given to multi-disciplinary team (medical providers and attorney from same jurisdiction) applications, however team applications are not required.
